It is hardly to believe that this design is for an University. Located in Austin, Texas, University Federal Credit Union’s Ben White Branch designed by the firm of Jackson and McElhaney Architects with the idea of giving shape to the environmentalist mission of the credit union. The way they wanted to enliven this is through the way in which the building adapts and responds to its surroundings. They paid careful attention to its orientation, the kind of glass they used and the way it was complemented, the shade and lighting, and also the landscaping. This last item was designed to be inviting and pleasing to the potential clients, while the interior was designed with efficiency in mind. The large hall is bright and well aired with light colors all around and a practical disposition of furniture.
The fact that they paid much attention to the use of sustainable construction materials and methods awarded the designers with a maximum rating from the Austin Energy Green Building program.
